Christian humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less – C.S. Lewis

  • Lessons in Driving

Today as we were driving home from Palm Springs, I realized something that hadn’t really sunk in until today.  I realized that whenever someone bothers me on the road and I want to ‘pay them back’, the only people that are affected by those retaliatory actions are those in my car – myself, my wife, and my children (and other family).  If my wife is uncomfortable with my driving, she will be unhappy which will make me unhappy.  She made the comment "it’s over" and she was absolutely right, and I let it go.

    • All that live godly will suffer persecution
    • If you’re not under persecution, you’re probably not much of a threat to the devil.
    • The more persecution the church endures, the more pure it becomes because the ungodly are removed because they are not able to withstand the persecution.
    • Christianity started, and Satan tried plan A (kill them all).  Then he had to resort to plan B – if you can’t kill them on the outside, kill them from the inside.
    • A ‘day’ in prophecy is a year in time
    • The 3.5 yr tribulation was from 538 to 1798 (Napoleon took the pope captive and Roman Catholic Church lost control of the Christian community)
    • The pope claims infallibility
    • RCC teaches that Mary was sinless and was a mediator between God and man, sacrifices Jesus every mass, bows and prays in front of images and statues, saints and priests are only special castes in the RCC community, all Christians cannot and should not know they have eternal life, calls priests ‘father’, teaches purgatory (no where in scripture), forbade Christians to read the Bible during the dark ages
    • The first man to state that the RCC was the antichrist was a pope, pope Gregory
  • [My sister] moving in with [her boyfriend]

Posted on November 29th, 2008 michael No comments

I heard from mom today that [my sister] has now reconsidered and is now decided to move in with [her boyfriend].  Evidently, she and [her boyfriend] weren’t on the same page, which [my sister] had said that he was fully supportive, so he got upset when she confirmed with him that he understood what her decision was.  In the end, it appears she decided to move in with him anyway because that’s what her heart told her to do.

It’s very important to understand that our hearts are not honest with us.  We are created with a sinful nature – our very being is of sin.  Our heart, therefore, will lead us astray.  We need to prepare our minds so that when we are faced with temptation of the heart, we already know what we have decided to do.

He created us for one purpose, and that is to have fellowship with Him.

Do you know who God is?  Do you know something personal about Him that goes beyond what you have learned while sitting in church or having conversations with a friend?  Do you know His ways?

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.  Against such there is no law.

  • [My sister] moving in with [her boyfriend]

Yesterday (Thanksgiving), [my sister] announced that she and [her boyfriend] had decided to move in together.  They had found a wonderful townhouse and were planning on [her boyfriend] moving in in December, and [my sister] in January.  They seemed really excited, but I couldn’t just smile and nod approval.  I lovingly explained my views, being careful not to cross the line into being their ‘judge’.  I explained why I felt that it was in their relationship’s long-term interests to at least wait until they were committed with engagement.

Today, [my sister] left a voicemail for me and expressed deep appreciation for my being honest with them yesterday, and let me know that they have decided to wait until they are engaged to move in.  I thank the Lord for providing me with the wisdom to stand up for what His word teaches / commands and in a way of love rather than judgment.

  • Reason for Everything

As I have been compiling my journal entries from my Word doc into this program, I realized that the whole reason why I felt led to dive back into K-House Revelation study was likely because on 10/31, I listened to the session that introduced me (again) to The Rock Church in San Diego.  Since then, I have been very engaged in learning from their sermons, which has brought me to learn how to pray more effectively and brought me into a more personal relationship with the Lord.  God is amazing!
