[This is a transcription of an audio recorded entry]

This voice entry is an experiment, if you will, in allowing Christ to speak through me, through my voice as opposed to through my pen. I’m going to approach this prayer the same way that I would approach opening myself up with a journal entry on the computer and see whether it’s something that God wants to use to speak through me or to me. So, here we go… Read the rest of this entry »

  • First Voice Entry

[This entry is a transcript of a voice-recorded journal entry]

I was thinking today on my way home from work about prayer – the journal entry that I wrote this afternoon – and how it all fits in to the information that’s contained in the Bible, and whether the journal entry is complete, and whether there’s anything else that would need to be added. I was thinking through that and it came to me that there are ideas that other Christians share that, of certain things – of certain ‘prescriptions’ – for how to address God. I was listening to a sermon from Miles (McPherson) and he was saying how the Psalms are written so that we have an understanding of how to address God. I feel like it came to me that perhaps those ‘prescriptions’ are valid, but they are part of a more fundamental approach, or more fundamental requirement (or truth) for hearing from God.

  • Hearing From God

Lord, I am here, ready to receive your word.

You need to open up first.

    What do you mean?

    You need to initiate.

Isn’t being ready with a willing heart considered initiation?

    No, Michael.

Lord, I hear you calling. It’s one of those times when I feel compelled to be here, listening for your word, your wisdom. I’m here to accept what you have to say to me.

Michael, express what’s on your mind tonight.

  • Am I Ready?

Posted on August 26th, 2010 michael No comments

Lord, are you ready to reveal to me how I will create time freedom in order to focus more fully on you?

The question is not whether I am ready, but whether you are.

    Then, am I ready?

Yes, Michael, you are. Our prayer time last night is extremely important for you to keep top-of-mind throughout this process, but you are ready for your next step – freedom from professional time obligation.

This is scary. This seems like a test of our relationship – test in the sense of growth, not pass/fail.

Well, you could look at it that way.Or you could simply trust me and subject yourself to me.

Absolutely. I trust you wholly and choose subjection to you Lord. I release my self to your ‘current’ (as we talked about last night).

It’s one thing to say you subject your self, and another thing to do it consistently. The mind is constantly trying to vie for control.

I understand. I will be consistent in my prayer time with you so that you may correct my course constantly. I do not want to get ahead of your will, as I don’t want to end up finding myself alone without your guidance, and I certainly do not want to waste time on something that is not of your will.

    Good Michael.

Then, if I am ready, I accept your revelation.

Go to your other blog post – the one you are keeping private.

Lord, what should be the one sentence description of the main benefit of our muse product?

    Saving grace is …

Lord I’m trying to hear you. Will you reveal to me what the main benefit description is for our muse product?

Never lose sight of the end.

  • Tomorrow Is Never

Lord, I am here to receive your wisdom. It is so amazing to me that our relationship has blossomed to the point that I now look forward to and trust that I will hear your voice in prayer. As I write this, I can sense you speaking to me and I’m trying to catch up with my handwriting. I need a better way.

Michael, be still. You know why our relationship is blooming.

  • Finding My Muse

Posted on August 21st, 2010 michael No comments

Lord Jesus, I feel like my head is spinning in circles.

You’re trying to take too much in.

What should I be focused on?

I want you to be doing the exercises in 4-hour workweek.

    Why?

They will lead you down a path that is good for you.

    Resetting my perceptions of reality?

    Yes.

Will that result in freeing my mind to focus on the important?

You’ve hit it Michael. Your quest for time *was* based on a quest for money. Now it is becoming a quest for freeing your mind to focus on the important. That’s where I want you to be.

  • 4-Hour Workweek : Chapter 5 Q&A

Posted on August 20th, 2010 michael No comments

The key to having more time is doing less, and there are two paths to getting there, both of which should be used together: (1) Define a to-do list and (2) define a not-to-do list.  In general terms, there are but two questions:

What 20% of sources are causing 80% of my problems and unhappiness?

What 20% of sources are resulting in 80% of my desired outcome and happiness?

Hypothetical cases help to get us started:

Lord, I praise you. Thank you for all you bless me with.

Michael, I know why you’ve come. You’re not looking for wisdom, you’re looking for answers to ‘small’ questions. That’s not the nature of our time together. I have told you before, I will not make things easy for you. There is reason in struggle. There is maturation in overcoming challenge.

I understand. I don’t like it, but I trust you. Do you expect that I will know the difference in the future and not come to you for ‘small’ questions?
