Making time
Posted on July 23rd, 2010 No commentsLord, is there anything you want to say to me?
There is so much I want to share. How much time do you have?
I have all day for you.
No you don’t.
I wish I did. What can you share in 10 minutes?
We need more time together.
What do you want me to do?
Set aside time.
I set aside my lunches.
But those are getting sporadic.
I know… What would be best? I’m always so groggy in the morning.
I want the morning, Michael. Shower and shave, then come for spiritual food, then eat breakfast. You could even drink your shake on the way to work.
How much time should I set aside?
I want between 30 minutes and an hour right now. I’ll ask for more later.
Is this a path toward me being able to focus on you with my days?
It is. I want to actually see you choose to spend your time with me. Lunch is convenient. Morning is sacrifice – at least it will seem that way.
Should I plan for this every day?
How about we start with tomorrow? I’ll share insight with you and you will hunger for more.
I don’t want to make excuses, but [my wife] may expect me to take care of [the baby] if I’m up.
Then tell her what you’re doing and arrange for 30 minutes alone, then you’ll take the baby.
That’s great! She’ll love that too. 6:30-7:00 devotion, 7:00 feed the baby, [my wife] can then get up at 7:30 or 8:00 when I have to leave. Do you want me to focus on prayer or Bible study?
For now, prayer. We have a good dialog going. I want you to remain open to me. You have a good general grasp of my word. I don’t expect you to be a Bible scholar, but it is important fo you to remain grounded in it.
Thank you, Father.
