  • Sinning More Than I Know

Lord, I confess and repent of my anger today. Please forgive me. I immediately knew that I had sinned against you.

Michael, I forgive you. Again, you recognized immediately that you had sinned. This is progress. You also recognized that this sin was a sin of pride – you weren’t accepting reality for what it was (you lacked control of a situation), and that made you angry.

I had some thoughts after this happened that I actually sin all the time without even realizing it. That your conditioning of my heart is actually making me more aware of how I sin. Were those thoughts from you?

That’s right Michael, they were from Me. Most people are completely oblivious to how much they sin. Many times they dismiss sin as a no-big-deal mistake. Those “no-big-deal mistakes” many times are quite insidious issues of the heart, that have far more widespread negative impact on their lives than they realize. As you become wise and as you become holy, your perception will be tuned to holiness, and anything other than holiness will stand out like a sore thumb.

In other words, where most people see a world of actions in shades of grey, you will begin to see behavior as it truly is, in black and white; understanding that that behavior is the expression of the state of the person’s heart. It will take time to recognize how the behavior is evidence of their heart condition, but you will become aware, and it will help you to address issues directly.

Thank you Lord. Thank you for your wisdom and especially for your forgiveness.
