Vision

Related to a previous entry about ‘strands of light’, I’ve had visions recently showing me how the Spirit tends to work in people’s lives – in flashes. I agree with my previous entry, that God works through believers to reach unbelievers. Believers help the person open their heart to the work of the Spirit. The Spirit then grants them a flash of insight – a glimpse of God – and the person is affected. It is then up to that person to decide what to do with that glimpse.

Do they continue to close their heart to God with their sin? Do they repent and keep their heart pure and open to God to allow the Spirit to continue to work in them? If they close up, the flash fades quickly, if they remain open, the flash fades less quickly, but more importantly, they leave themselves open to additional flashes / glimpses. Through their decisions, they receive enough revelation to stay in the light of the Lord perpetually, improving their receptiveness.

Also, it may be effective to vistualize that storing up the light tends to harden you against receiving additional flashes. In other words, if you don’t do anything with the insight you’ve been granted, you close yourself off from growth. Think of the dead sea.
