- Living in a world made safe by your father
- Craving of belovedness
- Adoration, attention
- Trials feel like abandonment when this is not present
- A passive father wounds just as much as an abusive one
- Childhood until about 12
Cowboy
- Adventure
- 13-19
- “Do I have what it takes?”
- Take it to the next level
- Being a shepherd was dangerous work
- The need is for words of admiration and experiences for discovering he has what it takes
- Failure at this stage results in avoiding risk – sticking to what you think you’re good at
- Not trying something new
- Failing without proper interpretation
Warrior
- 19-twenties
- Wants to be powerful
- Every man is given a warrior heart
- Adam fell through passivity. Passivity must be overcome
- We are born into a world of war (spiritual). The battle infects everything.
- The Lord is a warrior (Ex 3:16?)
- Suppression is an enemy
- Defeat can shut this down if proper interpretation isn’t available
- You have an enemy – you must deal with him – he’ll take anything you’ll give him
Lover
- Same timing as warrior
- Most men hide in logic, reason, analysis
- This stage is the awakening of the heart
- Painful experience needs healing
King
- Late 30’s > early 50’s
- The measure of a king is the description of what it like to be under his rule
- Test of character is extraordinary
- Pressures have never been greater
- Wounded by giving responsibility too early
Sage
- Culmination of the journey
- There’s a time to step down
- Looks like his world is shrinking, but influence ought to be at its greatest
- Father to kings
- Counselor of warriors and lovers
- Wounded by being dismissed
- Inner life is greater than outer life
- Ask for a sage’s wisdom
Additional Notes
- God presents himself as Father
- Orphan consciousness
- People (even Christians) live their lives mostly thinking they need to solve their own problems
- What would an adoring father do?
- Satan is always there to offer his interpretation of your experience
- People make agreements with Satan
- People make agreements that “it is all on me” (orphan mentality), or “it’s just the way it is”
- Start by breaking the agreement
- Renounce the lie the “it’s all on me”
- God will put you in situations where you’ll experience fatherless to flush the would / agreement out of you (healing)
- God is available as my father
- He flushes things to the point where he can minister to you
- Agreements;
- I will always be like that
- It’s just who I am
- Don’t make agreements that make it more difficult to reconcile / heal later
- Win the child’s heart for God
