Directions: Dreamlining will be fun, and it will be hard. The harder it is, the more you need it. To save time, I recommend using the automatic calculators and forms at www.fourhourblog.com. Refer to the model worksheet as you complete the following steps.

  • What Was That All About?

Lord, I’m struggling with something. I don’t know what to make of the experience I had at the Transformed Conference. Please help me understand what really happened when I was having Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort autograph my book.

  • Transformed Conference

    • First premise of the conference was: measure what we say against the word of God
    • Love for others necessitates a deep desire to share your faith. If you don’t love others, then you don’t know God.
    • True courage is when you conquer fear, not that fear is absent
    • Weakness becomes strength, through prayer

    Three keys:

    • The first key is FAITH
      • Romans 15:13
      • Faith produces joy, which produces physical energy (FIRE)
      • No faith, no joy (no fire)
    • The second key is LOVE
      • Perfect love casts out all fear
      • God if you did that for me, I will do anything for you
    • The third key is … (didn’t catch it)
      • Analogy of children playing at the bottom of an elevator shaft
        • Person running over to save them, stopping, and saying to themselves “they’re happy, I’ll leave them alone” or “I don’t know them”
    • Jesus came to make us righteous, not happy.  You can be happy without Jesus
    • Relations are the hardest people to witness to
    • Would you evangelize more if you were offered $1,000 per person?
      • This puts fear in perspective
      • Can you deal with your fear of men for the love of money, but not for the love of God?
    • More Than a Carpenter
    • You have to come to God on His terms.  Invite Him to reveal Himself to you – with a humble heart
    • Repentance is far more than a change of mind.  It is a change of heart and a change of will
    • It’s not about perfection, it’s about focus and direction

Five reasons to not ask Jesus into your heart:

    1. It’s not in the Bible
    2. It leaves out the gospel message to repent
    3. It leaves out the gospel message to believe in Jesus
    4. It presents Jesus as a beggar, as if we are in control
    5. The result is people who cry out “Lord, Lord”, and Jesus responds that He never knew them

10 things not to use in evangelizing:

    1. Hell fire preaching
      • Don’t want a fear response.  Want a response to grace. (tear-filled, not fear-filled)
    2. Just believe
      • It’s not enough to believe, you must repent
    3. Accept Jesus
      • Jesus accepts us, not the other way around.  We need to be accepted by Him
    4. God shaped hole in your heart
      • It’s sin-stained
    5. Jesus plus _______
      • “You’ll get all these things if you just become a Christian”
      • This focuses on the gifts, not the giver
    6. Fruit as a draw card
      • “Jesus will fix your marriage if you would just become a Christian”
    7. Decisional Regeneration
      • Deciding to be Christian doesn’t make you one
      • The decision + repentance
    8. Make Jesus your Lord and Savior
      • He already is Lord and Savior
      • You don’t grant Him status
    9. Commit to Jesus
      • Surrender, not commitment
    10. It’s easy to believe
      • Surrendering your pride is not easy
    • Saved people grow based on the gospel, nothing else
    • You don’t need or are even looking for a decision when evangelizing.  You are planting the seed of the gospel.
    • Law to the proud.  Grace to the humble.
    • Heart still tied to the “dock” of the world
    • Getting past / through your fear is a matter of getting past your pride.
  • Leap of Faith?

Posted on August 13th, 2010 michael No comments

This prayer was within the context of the ‘4-Hour Workweek : Chapter 3 Q&A’ post in my General Journal. 4 Hour Workweek is a book that teaches about how to ‘beat the game’ of earning income, and living a life with freedom of time and location.

Lord, is it unwise to take a ‘leap of faith’ by resigning my job to pursue my passions?

Michael, you are capable of far more than you know. Life has you, right now. I want you to have life.

What does that mean, that ‘life has me’?

Lord, God. I am here. Again, I do not have any specific purpose for this prayer, I am just here, opening myself to you. Please fill me with your spirit, oh God. Please fill me with your wisdom. I come to you now with an open heart and an open mind, ready to receive your word.
